Profile

Barbara Mendes raised in Rio de Janeiro where she started singing at the age of 8 at Festivals and jingle sessions.

Daughter of a singer and actress Marisa Rossi she lived in a musical environment and developed a passion for music.

Later on she put a band together and started performing in nightclubs in Rio.

She took piano and voice lessons at Antonio Adolfo school of music .

Right after graduating at Law School in 1996 in Brazil - Rio de Janeiro, she moved to New York to further develop music studies and training and went to The New School for Social research to take piano, music theory and voice lessons.

In September 1997 she started studying Gospel Technique and it lasted 10 months.

Much in demand, she started singing and performing in clubs and of THE BIG APPLE and being part of recording sessions.

In February 1998, she started learning the classical technique with Pat Hollye a very demanded coach in the classical metiee.

She is starting to work on her own musical material.

Her musical background is divided between brazilian jazz and samba, jazz, pop and funk.
